John Martin, abbot of Fountains 1442

He was a man of remarkable experience in worldly matters. (1)

John’s abbacy was short-lived for he died only seven weeks after his appointment to the abbacy. He was buried in the nave of the abbey church, between the graves of his immediate predecessors, abbots John Ripon and Thomas Paslew.(2)
