John of Kent, abbot of Fountains (1220-47)

John of Kent completed the building work initiated and continued by his predecessors. This included the construction of the impressive Chapel of the Nine Altars and a new infirmary. John played an active role in external affairs and was buried in the chapter-house at Fountains in 1247.
