Abbot Roger II of Rievaulx, 1223/4-39

Roger had previously been as master of the lay-brothers at Rievaulx and thereafter presided as abbot of Rievaulx’s daughter-house, Warden. Roger succeeded as abbot of Rievaulx c. 1223/4 and during his abbacy he was embroiled in the dispute between Fountains and Byland over lands at Niddersdale. Roger reigned as abbot of Rievaulx in 1239.
