Robert Burley, abbot of Fountains, 1383-1410

As Father Abbot of Meaux, Robert was involved in the election of its new abbot. He was accused of rigging the election and played a prominent role in the resulting insurrection at the abbey. Robert was buried in the centre of the choir of the abbey church at Fountains, in front of the abbot’s and prior’s stalls.
