Henry de Lacy, founder of Kirkstall

Henry de Lacy, baron of Pontefract, was one of the leading landholders in the North and the most significant in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was he who gave land in Barnoldswick, near Skipton, to Fountains Abbey, so that they could establish a daughter-house.
