The monastic day was structured around the seven canonical hours that were celebrated during the day, namely, Lauds, which was celebrated at daybreak, and thereafter the offices of Prime, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers, and the concluding office of Compline. An eighth office, Vigils, was celebrated during the night.
